Real Laboratory

Experimental work environment

The real laboratory represents an experimental environment for the working world of the future.

The ZEKI (Center for Tangible AI and Digitalization) is equipped with digitized office furniture (tables and chairs), a “smart” environment, and all the rooms of a typical modern office (open work area, design thinking lounge, conference room, auditorium, kitchen, reception). On the one hand, it serves as a state-of-the-art coworking space for startups, entrepreneurs, events and workshops, and on the other hand it represents a testing ground for research into increasing efficiency, effectiveness and ergonomics through the use of AI. This creates opportunities to develop new ideas and testing technologies for the working world of tomorrow.

Smart Furniture

Smart and ergonomic tables can provide biological feedback to the user via a microcontroller. Using UWB indoor navigation, localization is possible via a booking system for desks and chairs.

Smart Kitchen

The smart refrigerator detects products and vegetables in the refrigerator and provides the user with recipes for possible meals. It can also notify the user about expiration dates in the web app.

PepperGPT

Integrating a chatbot or conversation engine in the open domain with a humanoid social robot (Pepper) forms an intelligent assistant for the indoor environment.

LED Wayfinding System

The LED wayfinding system helps people find their way in an indoor environment using LED strips installed on the floor.

Multisensor

The multisensor measures CO2, temperature, humidity, pressure, air quality, brightness and noise in an indoor environment.

Invisible Interaction

This ring can classify hand movements when worn. Gestures can be programmed to trigger predefined commands.

Smart Planting

Sensors measure water, nutrients, light and lighting in real time, compare these with the plant-specific requirements and inform the user of any deviations.

Chair Assistant

The chair records the duration of sitting and prompts the user to take breaks. It also monitors the CO2 content in the environment, improving both ergonomic comfort and air quality.
